The communication was sent by dean university of instructions to all the departments after a lukewarm response on the directions that “they need to have programme outcomes, programme specific outcomes and course outcomes for all programmes running in the department”. These outcomes were to be uploaded to the department webpage and to be published in other related documents like handbooks of information. Sources said not many departments have paid heed to the request, after which a reminder was sent to all the heads of the departments.
The DUI further said there is a poor response of the departments in maintaining placement records, due to which in rankings like NIRF, the university has scored very bad on different accounts.
Referring to NAAC, the communication stated that it has also made it mandatory that the departments keep a record about qualifying students in state, national and international level examinations of five years. They have to maintain records of placement of outgoing students which is not only about the campus placement but about off-campus by students themselves too. The department has also to maintain records of graduate students going for higher studies and of economically weaker students.
Dr Ashish Jain, director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, said the university has developed a portal in which all departments have to put a detailed report about their programmes and what students will study during their enrolment. He said it is an ongoing process which every department has to follow and it is asked by authorities to execute it. He said the NAAC will be visiting the campus in 2022 and this data is mandatory to maintain by the university which has to showcase during their visit and helpful in applying for various rankings also.
